The debut Night Aquatic Show, themed ‘Around the World,’ unfolded unexpectedly at the Setia SPICE Aquatic Centre, leaving spectators in awe.

The aquatic spectacle promised a unique journey through performances mirroring stops in exotic locales like Thailand, China, South Korea, Japan, New York, Hawaii, Brazil, Africa, and India.

The spotlight shone on a diverse lineup of performers, predominantly young swimmers, with the youngest aged six, showcasing their exceptional skills.

The age spectrum expanded, featuring a senior group, with the oldest participant at 58. Notably, seven national synchronised swimmers from Penang graced the event, poised to represent Malaysia in the upcoming Asian age group in the Philippines.

Adding to the showcase were top-ranked mixed duet Koh Hao Sean and Nuralynn Mohd Shaari, and three sets of talented twins – Ow Yeng Rou Xuan and Ow Yeng Rou Ern (16), Hor Wen Yee and Hor Wen Xin (12), and Zoe Liew Jia Xuen and Chloe Liew Jia Yu (11).

The Penang Phoenix Artistic Swimming Academy took the spotlight, having transitioned from the Relau Sports Centre to the Setia SPICE Aquatic Centre earlier this year.

Their primary objective is to raise awareness about artistic swimming and provide unwavering support to the state team. Spearheading this initiative were accomplished swimmers and directors, including the country’s top-ranked mixed duet, Koh Hao Sean and Nuralynn Mohd Shaari.

Established in February, the academy’s dedication to expanding synchronised swimming was evident in the exceptional performances witnessed during the Night Aquatic Show.

Among the impressed spectators was Penang State Sports Council director Harry Chai Heng Hua, expressing immense joy and pride in the accomplishments of the artistic team.

Commending their relentless efforts to grow synchronised swimming and attract a burgeoning number of athletes, Chai highlighted the positive impact on the local sports scene.

The Night Aquatic Show at Setia SPICE emerged as a testament to the academy’s success in promoting artistic swimming while creating an unforgettable experience for both participants and spectators.
