In a bid to boost tourism and align with the Visit Perak 2024 strategy, the Perak state government has unveiled the “Perak GoGoGo” tourism website.

This innovative platform, crafted in collaboration with Media Chinese International Limited Group (MCIL), specifically targets Chinese tourists, featuring content in the Chinese language.

The website showcases three captivating tourism videos centred around Ipoh and highlights various other must-visit destinations within the state.

Loh Sze Yee, Perak’s Executive Councillor for Tourism, Industry, Investment, and Perak Corridor Development, emphasised the significance of this initiative during a press conference at the state secretariat building.

He stated, “We are making this effort to empower the local tourism sector by focusing on the Chinese language market.” The move aligns with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture’s broader strategy to expand the tourism product market to China.

Loh acknowledged the existing state tourism websites in Malay and clarified, “We already have many state tourism websites that use the Malay language, but we are making this effort to empower the local tourism sector by focusing on the Chinese language market.”

The Perak GoGoGo website, a result of collaboration with MCIL, incorporates contributions from local and international Chinese-language newspapers.

The platform features not only images and concise articles about Perak’s attractions but also includes tourism videos with a primary focus on Ipoh, showcasing its cultural richness and charm.

Loh explained, “The content would be in Chinese to target the global Chinese market,” emphasising its potential to attract visitors from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao.

Despite the language focus, Loh highlighted the website’s inclusivity, stating, “There are a lot of other promotional contents in Bahasa Malaysia and in English, and the website would help to attract more visitors from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao.”

Acknowledging the challenge posed by the absence of direct flights from China to Perak, Loh acknowledged the shared efforts with the Tourism, Arts, and Culture Ministry in expanding the market to China.
