Gateway to India: AirAsia flies direct to Ahmedabad

AirAsia is set to enhance its connectivity to India by introducing a new route from Kuala Lumpur to Ahmedabad, India’s first UNESCO World Heritage City.

The airline, known for its rapid expansion, plans to commence flights on May 1, 2024, marking its eleventh route to India and the third new route in 2024.

This development signifies AirAsia’s initial foray into the state of Gujarat, strengthening its presence in South Asia.

Kuala Lumpur to Ahmedabad – A cultural sojourn

Ahmedabad, also known as Amdavad, is a sprawling city renowned for being one of India’s largest cotton textile hubs.

Rich in historical and cultural significance, the city boasts ancient architecture dating back to the 15th century, under the rule of Sultan Ahmad Shah. History enthusiasts are drawn to Ahmedabad for its serene lakes, quaint temples, and centuries-old mosques.

To celebrate this milestone, AirAsia is offering promotional fares starting from RM209* from Kuala Lumpur and INR7,999* from Ahmedabad to Kuala Lumpur. Bookings can be made between now and January 28, 2024, for travel from May 1, 2024, to March 19, 2025, via the airasia Superapp or the website.

AirAsia committed to affordable connectivity

Reflecting on AirAsia’s vision and mission since its inaugural flight to India in 2008, Bo Lingam highlighted the commitment to enhance affordable connectivity between Malaysia and India.

He acknowledged the positive impact of the Malaysian government’s visa-free entry initiative for Indian nationals and affirmed AirAsia’s dedication to broadening connectivity.

The airline currently operates routes directly from Kuala Lumpur to various Indian cities, both northern and southern, through its short-haul airline AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK) and medium-haul affiliate airline AirAsia X (flight code D7).

In February 2024, AirAsia will commence flights to Thiruvananthapuram, followed by Jaipur in April and Ahmedabad in May, further expanding its footprint in India.

As AirAsia continues to broaden its horizons of connectivity, the airline aims to encourage more travellers to explore the untapped tourism potential of Malaysia and India.
