Genting Highlands thrives amidst transformations

Discover Genting Highlands’ vibrant evolution as it marks its 59th anniversary, introducing thrilling upgrades and partnerships for an unforgettable experience.

The Malaysian mega entertainment city, Genting Highlands, has so much to offer to its visitors. It is almost a planet of its own. Once you visit, you will not need to go anywhere else for any possible reason. Genting Resorts World will provide you with anything you need. Whether it is shopping, fine dining, entertainment, or breathtaking nature, they have it all and more.

Genting Malaysia will celebrate its 59th Anniversary in August this year, offering a fantastic opportunity for a visit to this popular tourist destination. With plenty of fun activities to enjoy, the anniversary celebrations promise to enhance the excitement, featuring a variety of special shows and events to commemorate the occasion.

Financial state

The rise in revenue in Malaysian casinos was 23 percent in Malaysia for 2023. Since Genting is the only legal casino in the country, this data is connected to them alone. Leisure and hospitality-related revenue was around €1.24 billion for last year which, we can all agree, is quite a sum.

On the other hand, this is not all the revenue from casinos in the country.  Nick Pappas says that in online casinos in Malaysia fall under a legal gray area, which means you likely won’t have to face any penalties for playing at them. However, because they are not registered within Malaysia, the substantial amount of money that they undoubtedly generate is not known. The same goes for crypto casinos, which are also popular in Malaysia: their stats don’t go into official reports, nor are they known to the general public. Nonetheless, they are thriving and are not to be neglected when on the subject of gambling.

Temporary closures

There are rumors that Genting is closing some of its amenities because it is downsizing. This is partly true as Genting is closing Genting Casino 1 and Genting Casino 2, better known as Circus Palace and Hollywood. However, the closure is just temporary as the development team is working on some upgrades that demand the amenities to be closed. As soon as the work is done, these two should be up and running as new and improved versions. As far as the improvements go, we are kept in the dark since the developers only said that they are working on enhancing the entertainment and gaming experience. What this mysterious piece of information entails, we will find out as soon as the upgrades are finished.

Sky Casino

Luckily for all interested parties, Sky Casino is open for business. In fact, the reason the two previously mentioned casinos are being renovated is to live up to the modern standards of Sky Casino. It also seems that visitors adore this casino as they do not seem to mind their choices being narrowed down.

Genting Resort remains one of the most popular in the country with its 7 hotels and more than 10,000 rooms. They have two other resorts in Malaysia which are Resorts World Kijal in Terengganu and Resorts World Langkawi on Langkawi Island. Considering the popularity of Sky Casino and Genting in general, there is no doubt that they will only be in higher demand once the upgrades are finished.

EV charging hub

Together with Porsche and Shell Recharge, Genting opened its state-of-the-art ultra-fast charging hub for electric vehicles. The hub contains 10 charging bays altogether, 4 of which are 360kW high-performance charging, while 6 are 22kW AC chargers.

The idea behind this is to support sustainable tourism, as well as put Genting on the map of the most electronic vehicle-friendly places in this part of the world. This will, undoubtedly, attract EV-driving folk who like to travel and entertain themselves with a bit of gambling.

King’s Park vision

One of the things you might have not known about Genting is that they created a whole new focal point of the Genting world which is strategically located in the very center of it. The idea behind this project was to connect all the tourists that come and visit Genting in one entertainment hub. This hub is to cater to everyone’s needs and provide a fun break from all other attractions.

The initial phase of development consisted of creating a cinematic shopping experience for visitors. 12 blocks featuring 360 shops were built to amaze every single person who wishes to buy something. Moreover, the design and style are colonial and vintage which gives the whole experience a special vibe, different from what people are used to.

There is also a huge section called “Truly Asian Cultural Streets”. In these parts, tourists can enjoy themselves while learning a bit about Asian culture firsthand. There is also a plan to build a part that would be committed to the Muslim community in Malaysia featuring halal-friendly dining options.

Hard Rock Genting Highlands

One of the most exciting amenities of King’s Park is the partnership between Hard Rock International and Genting. They joined forces to create a Hard Rock hotel right in the middle of this amazing megacity. This is the largest Hard Rock hotel yet with 1001 rooms and suites, bathing in luxury. The location of the hotel is breathtaking – overlooking the mountains from 1000 meters above sea level. The weather is always cool so you can stay fresh whenever you visit. Unfortunately, this luxurious hotel is projected to open in 2027, so all enthusiasts will have to wait patiently to book it. Nevertheless, with its heated pool, Rock Spa, amazing dining options, and constant Rock ‘n’ Roll entertainment, this hotel surely is something special and worth the wait.
