Bandar Tasek Mutiara Market is set for an upgrade

The Bandar Tasek Mutiara Market in Sungai Bakap, Penang is set for an upgrade, thanks to a recent allocation from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow announced the news, emphasising that the allocated funds will be used effectively to improve the market’s facilities.

Prioritising trader input

Recognising the importance of trader feedback, Chow highlighted the importance of engaging with market vendors.

“YB Jason (H’ng Mooi Lye, Exco for Local Government and Town & Country Planning) will arrange an engagement session with the traders to identify priority works according to the allocated amount,” he explained.

This collaborative approach ensures that the upgrade addresses the most pressing needs of the market community.

While the KPKT allocation provides a solid foundation, the project also benefits from the ongoing efforts of the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP).

“The State Government also hopes that the Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) […] can proceed smoothly,” stated Chow.

By combining resources and expertise, KPKT, MBSP, and the market traders can achieve a more comprehensive and efficient upgrade.

Addressing specific needs at the market

The Chief Minister elaborated on the types of improvements expected: “This includes several small-scale works such as adding fans, awnings, drain covers, and lights […].”

By addressing these specific concerns, the upgrade aims to enhance the overall market experience for both traders and customers.

The Bandar Tasek Mutiara Market plays a vital role in the Sungai Bakap area.

“This market provides extensive services to the Sungai Bakap area, as it is understood that there is only one public market here,” explained Chow.

The KPKT allocation, coupled with MBSP’s ongoing efforts and trader input, paves the way for a significant improvement to the Bandar Tasek Mutiara Public Market.
