CTOS offers 67,000 free MyCTOS Score reports to first-time users via its app, promoting financial literacy for Malaysia’s 67th Merdeka celebrations.

In conjunction with Malaysia’s 67th Merdeka celebrations, CTOS, the nation’s leading credit reporting agency, is offering 67,000 free MyCTOS Score reports to first-time users through the CTOS Mobile App. This initiative, running from 15th August to 20th September, aligns with the spirit of Jiwa Merdeka, a campaign promoting the people’s freedom and patriotic spirit.

Empowering financial literacy

Erick Hamburger, Group CEO of CTOS Digital Berhad, highlighted the significance of this campaign: “Out of a working population of 17.1 million Malaysians, so far just over 4 million people have checked their credit report with CTOS, which means that over 75% are still to do so. In line with Jiwa Merdeka, which expresses the people’s freedom and patriotic spirit, while building a strong, harmonious, and progressive nation, CTOS is happy to be offering free MyCTOS Scores to the rakyat who have yet to subscribe to CTOS.”

Hamburger emphasized CTOS’s commitment to promoting financial literacy and its role in building a better Malaysia. The MyCTOS Score Report is a valuable tool for individuals to assess their creditworthiness, providing essential information that financial institutions use to determine loan eligibility and other credit-related decisions.

Understanding the MyCTOS Score

The MyCTOS Score is a three-digit number ranging from 300 to 850, reflecting an individual’s creditworthiness. It is derived from five key factors: payment history, amount owed, credit history length, credit mix, and new credit applications. This score helps consumers make informed financial decisions, particularly for significant purchases such as homes or cars, and improves their attractiveness to lenders.

The report includes detailed data such as CCRIS records, litigation and bankruptcy information, and business interests based on Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) data. This comprehensive overview allows individuals to understand their financial standing better and take steps toward improving or maintaining a healthy credit score.
