Penang has taken a bold step in its climate action journey by participating in the One Planet City Challenge, an international competition led by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

The One Planet City Challenge (OPCC) has grown since its inception in 2011.

To date, 900 cities across more than 70 countries have participated, including 359 cities from 48 countries in this year alone.

Penang is among the frontrunners, aiming to demonstrate its leadership in climate action and sustainable urban development.

Why Penang deserves your vote

Penang’s participation in the One Planet City Challenge is a significant milestone.

By joining this prestigious global initiative, the city is not only raising its profile but also showing its commitment to fighting climate change.

Local governments participating in OPCC submit detailed climate action plans, which are then evaluated by WWF’s peer-reviewed framework.

This ensures transparency and accountability in how cities tackle global warming.

Penang’s involvement provides access to strategic feedback and knowledge-sharing opportunities, which can lead to more impactful climate actions.

The city is gaining global recognition and the support needed to strengthen its environmental policies.

By voting for Penang, you are amplifying its voice on a global platform and encouraging other cities to follow suit.
