The International Fire Chiefs Association of Asia (IFCAA) General Conference, the International Fire Conference and Exhibition Malaysia (IFCEM), and the Malaysia International Rescue Extrication Challenge (MIREC) & IFCAA Joint Drill 2024 came together from October 22-24, 2024, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). The event brought together fire safety professionals, global industry players, and rescue experts from across the world, highlighting the latest in innovations, collaborative strategies, and best practices in the fire and rescue field.
Minister Of Housing And Local Government., Nga Kor Ming, inaugurated the event, alongside the Director-General of the Fire and Rescue Department Malaysia (JBPM), Dato’ Sri Nor Hisham bin Mohammad, whose opening remarks underscored the need for enhanced cooperation and innovation in fire and rescue operations.
A platform for innovation and collaboration
The conference featured a prominent showcase by Chinese and local companies, presenting state-of-the-art fire safety technologies and solutions. Their presence underscored the increasing importance of global partnerships in advancing firefighting capabilities, which Dato’ Sri Nor Hisham echoed through his active engagement with exhibitors and industry experts.
Among the highlights was the Malaysia International Rescue Extrication Challenge (MIREC), featuring simulated emergency scenarios that tested the skills of international rescue teams. The IFCAA Joint Drill further showcased the critical role of cross-border cooperation, with multinational teams participating in real-time rescue simulations, demonstrating seamless teamwork in disaster response.
