Seven Bank brings innovative ATM solutions to Malaysia

Seven Bank launches Reachful ATMs in Malaysia, aiming to enhance financial access in suburban areas and expand to Sabah and Sarawak by 2026.

Seven Bank, Ltd., the banking arm of the 7-Eleven group, has announced its ambitious plan to bring its cutting-edge ATM services to Malaysia. The announcement was made during a press meeting held in Kuala Lumpur, marking a significant step in the bank’s global expansion strategy.

The rollout began with the installation of its unique cash recycling machine in Rawang, Selangor, in January 2025. The first phase of the expansion will see 100 ATMs strategically deployed across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, and Johor. By 2026, the initiative will extend to Sabah and Sarawak, focusing on suburban areas where access to banking services is limited.

“We have established a new brand name, Reachful, as a strong start in Malaysia and a continued growth of our overseas business,” said Masaaki Matsuhashi, President and Representative Director of Seven Bank Limited. He emphasized the bank’s commitment to improving accessibility to financial services and contributing to the social and economic development of Malaysia.

Strategic Collaboration with Local Partners

The rollout of these ATMs will leverage partnerships with local companies to deploy services within 7-Eleven stores across Malaysia. This collaboration aligns with Seven Bank’s strategy to integrate retail and financial services seamlessly.

Jin Sudo, CEO of Abadi Tambah Mulia Internasional Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Seven Bank’s local partner, highlighted Malaysia’s potential: “Malaysia shows a significant growth in population and GDP. In the cashless society, currency in circulation is at a high level too. We found the market very promising to expand our business.”

The initiative not only addresses the growing demand for accessible financial services but also aligns with Malaysia’s trajectory towards becoming a cashless society, ensuring that underserved communities in suburban areas are not left behind.

Expanding Global Presence

Seven Bank’s expansion into Malaysia marks its fourth overseas market, following successful ventures in the United States, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Since its first international ATM deployment in 2017, the company has installed over 21,000 ATMs globally by 2024.

Malaysia’s entry into the network underscores the bank’s focus on markets with robust economic growth and evolving financial ecosystems. The combination of innovative technology and targeted market strategies sets Seven Bank apart as a leader in global banking solutions.

Future Plans to Integrate Retail and Financial Services

The introduction of Seven Bank’s ATMs under the Reachful brand is part of a larger vision to combine retail and financial services in Malaysia. The company aims to create added value for customers by integrating convenient financial solutions into their daily lives.

Matsuhashi expressed optimism about the future: “By collaborating with our partner companies to deploy ATM services in 7-Eleven stores in Malaysia, we hope to enrich the lives of the Malaysian people and contribute to further social development and economic growth.”

With a robust plan in place and a clear focus on inclusivity, Seven Bank’s entry into Malaysia promises to transform the banking landscape, ensuring broader access to financial services for Malaysians across urban and suburban areas.
