Digital travel platform Agoda has unveiled its fourth Eco Deals programme at the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in Malaysia, reinforcing its commitment to wildlife conservation and sustainability.
Partnering with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Agoda aims to raise USD 1.5 million in donations, surpassing last year’s USD 1 million target.
This initiative aligns with ATF’s theme, “Unity In Motion: Shaping ASEAN’s Tourism Tomorrow,” and underscores Agoda’s dedication to protecting critical habitats and wildlife in Asia.
Agoda expanding conservation efforts across Asia
Agoda’s Eco Deals 2025 extends its reach to Japan and Korea, now covering 10 markets in total.
Through the programme, Agoda pledges to donate USD 1 to WWF for every booking made at participating hotels.
The funds will support diverse conservation projects, such as restoring wetlands in Japan, protecting spoonbills in Korea, advancing tiger conservation in Malaysia, and safeguarding whale sharks in the Philippines.
Speaking about the programme, Damien Pfirsch, Chief Commercial Officer at Agoda, stated, “With Eco Deals 2025, we are committed to doing even more to support efforts to protect Asia’s remarkable destinations and wildlife.
In partnership with WWF, our goal is to ensure future generations can explore the world affordably while preserving its natural beauty.”
Agoda’s efforts also include discounted rates of up to 15% for customers booking through the Eco Deals programme.
Participating hotels receive the Eco Deals badge and enhanced visibility on Agoda platforms, making it easier for eco-conscious travellers to find sustainable accommodation options.
Introducing the Sustainable Tourism Impact Fund
Agoda is also launching the Sustainable Tourism Impact Fund, in collaboration with WWF-Singapore and UnTours Foundation.
This fund offers affordable investment capital to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the tourism sector, supporting innovative sustainability initiatives.
Agoda has committed USD 100,000 to the fund, with the potential to increase this to USD 150,000 upon reaching the USD 1.5 million donation target.
The fund provides low-interest loans ranging from USD 10,000 to USD 25,000 for MSMEs seeking to enhance their sustainable practices.
UnTours Foundation manages the fund, with Agoda providing financing, mentorship, and investment decisions. WWF-Singapore offers environmental guidance to ensure impactful outcomes.
Vivek Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of WWF-Singapore, highlighted the partnership’s significance: “With Agoda, we’ve made meaningful contributions to conservation across the region—supporting tiger protection in Malaysia, addressing human-elephant conflicts in Thailand, and more. This year, we’re expanding our impact to Japan and Korea to create an even greater difference.”
The Eco Deals programme has been a cornerstone of Agoda’s sustainability efforts since 2022, offering practical ways for hotel partners to contribute to wildlife protection and habitat conservation.
The initiative aligns with broader goals, including Visit Malaysia Year 2026, which focuses on promoting sustainable tourism.
Malaysian Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, praised the collaboration, stating, “Agoda and WWF’s efforts promote travel that gives back to destinations.
This is in line with our theme, ‘Unity In Motion,’ and supports our focus on sustainability in tourism.”
Agoda’s global network and partnerships with organisations like WWF and UnTours Foundation reflect its long-term dedication to a sustainable future.
