MADCash Sdn. Bhd., a fintech championing women’s empowerment, has teamed up with ERTH to launch the MADCash x ERTH Mini Hub programme, coinciding with Earth Day 2025.
This initiative establishes e-waste collection hubs run by 10 women entrepreneurs across Klang Valley and Johor Bahru, targeting 5,000 kilograms of electronic waste in the next year.
MADCash’s innovative approach merges environmental action with economic opportunity, fostering sustainable livelihoods.
By empowering women to lead eco-friendly micro-businesses, MADCash addresses Malaysia’s e-waste crisis while uplifting communities.
This pilot programme marks a bold step towards a greener, more inclusive future, setting a model for nationwide impact.
MADCash x ERTH Mini Hubs take shape
MADCash and ERTH unveiled their collaboration to create e-waste collection hubs operated by women, dubbed MADCash x ERTH Divas.
Each of the 10 participants receives a RM500 micro loan, funded by ERTH’s RM5,000 allocation, as startup capital to manage collected e-waste.
The programme aims to blend green entrepreneurship with financial empowerment.
Nuraizah Shamsul Baharin, MADCash’s founder, emphasized the vision.
“This aligns with our mission to create sustainable livelihoods for women,” she said.
“We’re nurturing eco-conscious business leaders for the long term.”
The initiative equips women to run community-based hubs, promoting environmental awareness.
Mohamed Tarek El-Fatatry, ERTH’s founder, highlighted the community focus.
“Tackling e-waste needs grassroots solutions,” he said.
“These women are environmental heroes, proving small actions drive big change.”
Their hubs will collect items like old phones, laptops, and cables, reducing pollution risks.
MADCash is selecting participants, aiming to onboard them by 5 May 2025.
The Divas will receive training to operate effectively, ensuring the hubs’ success.
The programme’s impact will be measured by e-waste collected and income growth for participants.
Periodic evaluations will assess scalability. If successful, this long-tail “MADCash women’s e-waste initiative” could expand across Malaysia, amplifying its environmental and social benefits.
The public can support by donating e-waste, raising awareness, or nominating future participants.
MADCash’s broader community impact
Malaysia faces a growing e-waste crisis, with improper disposal causing health and environmental hazards.
MADCash’s programme tackles this while addressing women’s economic challenges.
By training women to manage hubs, it creates sustainable income sources, particularly for underserved communities.
The initiative aligns with Malaysia’s push for sustainability.
The Klang Valley and Johor Bahru, urban hubs with high e-waste generation, are ideal starting points.
MADCash’s micro-financing model, proven effective in prior projects, ensures participants can thrive as entrepreneurs.
This resonates with Malaysia’s eco-conscious youth, eager to support green initiatives. The programme’s visibility strengthens its potential to inspire broader action.
MADCash and ERTH’s partnership leverages local expertise.
ERTH’s recycling knowledge complements MADCash’s empowerment mission, creating a synergy that benefits both participants and the environment.
This collaboration could redefine community-driven sustainability in Malaysia.
MADCash urges residents to engage with the Mini Hub programme by donating e-waste at designated locations and spreading awareness.
Nominations for future Divas are also welcome, ensuring more women join this transformative effort.
