Forced acquisition for MRT in Jalan Sultan

It is along this stretch of Jalan Sultan that the 51 kilometre MRT project undertaken by Prasarana,  will go underground.  To proceed with the construction, the Federal Government invoked the Land Acquisition Act,  to acquire by force buildings above the tunnel and station. Affected land and property owners have cried foul,  claiming this forced acquisition to be akin to a land grab.

At a forum organised by the Committee for Preservation of Jalan Sultan and Bukit Bintang , on last week,   property  owners and conservation activists , vowed to organised themselves to fight against this injustice,  and have even put forward a realignment plan for the MRT.
