Yayasan Sabah to organise handicraft carnival

The Yayasan Sabah Group (YSG) will organise a handicraft carnival from today until Nov 12 at the Dewan Datuk Salleh Sulong in Papar.

The Yayasan Sabah Group (YSG) will organise a handicraft carnival from today until Nov 12 at the Dewan Datuk Salleh Sulong in Papar.

The YSG Director Khalil Bin Jamalul said the main objective of the carnival is to assist local handicraft makers, especially those in and around the south interior region of Sabah, to promote their handiwork by showcasing them at the carnival’s exhibition.

As an organisation entrusted by the state government to promote the development and substantiation of the handicraft industry in the state, he said the YSG’s commitment to this effort would undoubtedly raise the bar again at the forthcoming carnival.

“A highlight of the carnival is the handing over of handicraft equipment and donations to handicraft makers during the official opening of the carnival,” Khalil said in a statement, here today.

The YSG’s Handicraft Carnival was launched in Sandakan in July this year, and later held in Ranau, Kota Belud and recently, Tawau.

Sabah Chief Minister cum Chairman of the Yayasan Sabah Board of Trustees, Musa Aman, is expected to officiate the official opening ceremony of the carnival this Saturday.
