University Malaya hosts Japanese language pow wow

Teachers, lecturers and educators of Japanese language has gathered in a conference held over two days in University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.

Teachers, lecturers and educationists of the Japanese language recently gathered for a conference held over two days in University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur.

The eighth conference on Japanese language education in Malaysia and Urawa Teacher Training Programs was co-organised by The Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur and Ambang Asuhan Jepun, Centre for Foundation Studies in Science, University of Malaya from the October 8 to 10.

The keynote lecture was delivered by Professor Yokomizo Shinichiro of the International Student Center, Saga University, Japan, followed by eight parallel poster presentations from the Urawa Teacher Training Program and another 11 poster presentations on Japanese language education in Malaysia. Five oral presentations were presented on the second day.

“I think that teachers should realise that in order to significantly improve the proficiency of students of the Japanese language, they must have the persistent desire to learn themselves, regardless of the age of the learner or their own language,” said Yokomizo in his lecture.
