Three Nigerian college students believed to be members of a drug syndicate in the Klang Valley were arrested in Taman Sri Segambut here on Friday.
Kuala Lumpur Narcotics Crime Investigations Department (NCID) head ACP Kang Chez Chiang said police also seized 1,500 grammes of clear crystals believed to be syabu worth about RM300,000 during the 5.30pm raid.
All three tested positive for Methamphetamine and have been remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
Kang added that a total of RM2 million worth of drugs had been seized to date this year including seven kilogrammes of syabu and three kilogrammes of heroin.
Kang said the trend had changed now with more heroin and syabu being widely trafficked while previously it was marijuana.
