Halloween events in Klang Valley are spread across malls, theme parks and play centres this week. Halloween falls on Saturday 31 October, and most plans cluster on that day.

Sunway Lagoon’s Nights of Fright 12 runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, with tickets from RM138. Meanwhile, Sunway Pyramid and LaLaport BBCC run free and low-cost family activities.

Here is a guide by type, with dates, times and prices where we found them.

Sunway Lagoon’s ticket page says Nights of Fright 12 runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7.30pm to 11.30pm. It ends on 7 November.

That leaves two chances to go. The first is 30 October to 1 November. The second is Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November.

The admission ticket costs RM138, which includes a bag of potato crisps. An Xpress Pass with early access costs RM98 more, so both come to RM236.

However, the Xpress Pass is not an admission ticket, so you need both. We found no MyKad rate or combo price on the pages we read.

The event has nine haunted houses. They include Ape-ocalypse, Yokai Road, Return to Silent Hill and a Pontianak versus Pocong show, The Rakyat Post reported.

Also, the park says the event may not suit pregnant women, young children, the elderly or people with heart conditions. Tickets are for the chosen date only and carry no refund.

Mall Halloween events for families

Sunway Pyramid runs a Detective Leo’s Mystery Hunt until 1 November at the ground-floor Oasis Lobby. Solve the mystery to claim a free Nestlé Musang King mini ice cream, its events page says.

Its Trick or Treat Parade runs on 31 October and 1 November at 11am, 3pm and 7pm. The page marks it fully reserved, so check before you go. Children must wear costumes, and booking is through the Sunway Super App.

In addition, LaLaport BBCC holds its Spook-tacle weekend from 29 October to 1 November. EverydayOnSales said a RM50 receipt can redeem a goodie bag.

KL With Kids lists a costume competition there on 31 October, from 2pm to 3pm, at RM15. The mall page gives dates only, so confirm times with the mall.

Elsewhere, Sunway 163 Mall in Mont Kiara has spooky workshops and trick-or-treat until 31 October, according to the PPKM calendar. Prices were not stated.

Bangsar Shopping Centre has a Halloween DIY Party from 3pm to 5.30pm. Bloomsvale Shopping Gallery on Jalan Puchong runs a costume contest from 1.30pm, followed by trick-or-treat from 5pm to 7pm.

For something free and quiet, AF Kuala Lumpur lists a family screening of Petit Vampire from 10am to 12pm. PJPAC at 1 Utama stages Hansel and Gretel Halloween from 3pm to 8pm at RM25.

Most of these listings do not give prices or age limits. Therefore, call the mall or check its page before you take the children.

The Campus Ampang hosts several events on 31 October, including a Kiddie CEO Halloween Takeover. A Squishy Trading Halloween Edition costs RM10, and sensory-friendly activities cost RM35.

Elsewhere, Gymboree Play and Music runs a Gymboween Party at RM70. Newton Show in Bangsar offers a Halloween science and maker session at RM99. The Young Explorer Night Camp in Mont Kiara costs RM159.

PLA Petaling Jaya at Jaya One has a haunted mystery room and witch potion lab from 2pm to 5pm. Spaces are limited, and parents must call ahead to register.

Overall, book early for anything with a ticket. Sunway Lagoon says some dates can sell out, and several of the others have small group sizes.

Next weekend, the focus shifts to Deepavali on Sunday 8 November. See our guide to Deepavali decor at six malls. Also read our story on 118 Mall, which is due to open soon.

These Halloween events in Klang Valley mostly end on 1 November, so plan this week.
