Buddhists and non-buddhist came in flocks to Alor Setar’s famous Siamese Buddhist Temple, Wat Nikrodharam, last weekend to celebrate the birthday, the enlightenment and the death of Gautama Buddha.
There were many programs that was lined-up throughout the day, from blessings bestowed upon by the Buddhist monks in the temple to the bathing of baby Buddha statue by the devotees.
However the floats procession carrying the statue of Buddha through the city’s streets was the highlight of the evening.
Tourist from all over also took this opportunity to witness for themselves the grandeur of the “larger than life” Buddha statues situated within the walls of Wat Nikrodharam.
CJMY was there to capture this auspicious occasion.
