Malaysian stuntman Raymond Tiew lands first movie role

Malaysian stuntman Raymond Tiew has been given a small acting role in a China-made online movie called Special Raid.

This was his first acting break after a successful audition for a role in the film.

The 29-year-old KLite has been a stunt performer for several years doing stunts and doubling for actors in local and international movies until he landed the role.

“When I got the role, I was really very excited. I played a supporting character acting out my role as a member of China’s elite special force. Though I only appeared in about 6 minutes of time on the screen, it was my best moment in life.

“I couldn’t believe I was going to shoot a gun. I was thrilled as it was the first time in my life hoisting a M4 carbine and firing. The gun was real but we were firing blank rounds only.

“I am grateful for the chance to work on this production. The company and the cast and crew I worked with were amazing. We become like a family,” said Raymond Tiew.

The production team from China spent nearly two months in an abandoned commercial areas in Bukit Beruntung, Selangor to film the movie.

Special Raid tells the story of China’s Special Forces team deployed along the border region to take down an armed gang headed by a notorious Malaysian gang leader (played by Malaysian actor Pablo Amirul) who is involved in the drug and human trafficking trade.

A marketing graduate and a martial art instructor for MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), Raymond Tiew really wanted to get into acting as he aspires to become an international action movie star one day.

He enrolled for an Advanced Superstar Acting class at Snips College of Creative Arts (SCCA) in Kuala Lumpur. After graduation, he was looking forward to the opportunity to stretch his creative abilities in the world of acting. He started going to auditions and landed his first movie role.

While his appearance in Special Raid may have been brief, exposing him to a huge audience in the China market, it helped as good preparation of what comes next for Raymond Tiew – earning him another movie role! A significant achievement that he is proud of and true to him. He has since started work on his second movie.

Raymond Tiew is moving ahead with his acting career. He is certainly well on the way to establishing himself as the next action hero movie star in Malaysia and internationally.
