Citizen Journalists Malaysia (CJMY) caught up with Renee to find out more about her.

CJMY: Lets start by telling us a bit about yourself.
Renee
: I’m Renee Tang and a proud mother of two lovely children. I’m a director of Tecxus Marketing in Malaysia. We import Indian-made Amaron car batteries. I also own a retail business of handphone gadgets and accessories called Captain A in SS2, Petaling Jaya.

CJMY: You won the Classic Mrs Asia International All Nation 2018. How are you feeling?
Renee
: I feel very proud of myself as all my hard work has paid off.  I am so grateful to be able to represent Malaysia and show the charm of a woman with confidence on the international stage. Beside talent and beauty, the judges paid more attention to personality, EQ, IQ and capability too. I’m so glad to have made it for my country.

Renee Tang of Malaysia was crowned Classic Mrs Asia International All Nation 2018 at the 8th edition of the prestigious pageant held at Rayong, Thailand on 14 Nov 2018.

CJMY: What do you plan to do after winning this title?
Renee
: I will fulfil my duty and responsibility as Mrs Asia International 2018 and will continuously keep improving myself in every aspect. I will use this opportunity to create awareness about civic sense, to give back to the society and to bring harmony and peace to the world.

CJMY: You were Mrs Chinatown World 2017, right? What other pageants and awards have you won?
Renee
: Yes, I have won the Mrs Chinatown World title in 2017 and two other subsidiary titles – The Most Charming Award and The Best Skin Award. It was my first crowning which sparked my pageant career. Besides that, I was awarded the ASEAN Beauty Queen Award 2018 by IBF and Stylo Model Award 2018. I was also appointed Ambassador of Amaron Battery.

CJMY: What makes you enter beauty pageants?
Renee
: First of all, I have no intention of participating in pageants. I was at a business talk one day and went on stage to present my products. The organiser approached me. I rejected the offer as my time was too preoccupied with my workload but after taking into consideration that my pageant win as beauty queen can help me in promoting myself and my business, I began to involve myself in beauty contests.

CJMY: It’s never easy doing multi tasking roles as a mother, wife, homemaker, businesswoman, and now a beauty pageant winner. How do you handle the work life balance right for you?
Renee
: It is not easy actually. I’m lucky to have a very understanding husband who has given me freedom and support. My children are very supportive too and the big brother will help to take care the little one when I’m away. I got my business partners and special team to look after the business. That’s why my time is flexible. Anyway, I always try my best to spend quality time with my family during weekends and public holidays. Weekdays are for my business and occasionally attend events.

CJMY: What relevance do beauty pageants have in today’s world?
Renee
: I feel that beauty pageants have been misunderstood by many people. Most view pageants are just for women who have only looks and beauty but without substance and intelligence. I feel that pageantry is a stage to let women express themselves and provide inspiration to their peers. In additional to being a mother and wife, women can actually live a wonderful life. Beauty pageants can provide the opportunity to women to express themselves in many different angles, improve posture, self grooming, confidence and social skills.

CJMY: How important is it to look your good at all times?
Renee
: It is a show of self confidence.

CJMY: How do you keep yourself fit and beautiful?
Renee
: I put in effort to keep myself active and perform regular exercises. I also take care of myself by doing facial, massage but most importantly I’m happy and positive, simple, no complicated ideas, and I appreciate everything I have. I believe having a positive mindset is very important. A beautiful heart will make you beautiful forever.

CJMY: Any words of advice to the mothers who aspire to be beauty queens?
Renee
: Treat the beauty contest as a journey, not a destination.

CJMY: What is your principle in life?
Renee
: I always want to live life to the fullest. I never have regrets in my life. I will always explore and push myself to reach for the sky.

CJMY: What are your hobbies and interests?
Renee
: I love dancing and travelling, I travel around the world. I’m energetic whenever I get on stage as well as on oversea trips. I like being photographed. Whenever I’m free I will go photo shooting. I have many photographer friends and I pose model for them.
