A 19-year-old youth was slashed to death after a motorcycle chase at the Menglembu industrial area in Ipoh last night.
Perak Criminal Investigation Department chief Dzuraidi Ibrahim said that eight people on four motorcycles pursued K.Pirathibaraj of Taman Buntung at about 8pm.
They surrounded Pirathibaraj, who was trying to escape them on his motorcycle, and slashed him in the head and body with parangs and fled, Dzuraidi said when contacted today.
The youth died on the spot, and his body was sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.
Dzuraidi said that police found two parangs at the scene of the crime.
The motive has yet to be determined, but the case has been classified as murder, he said.
Dzuraidi said the hunt for the eight has started, and appealed to anyone who witnessed the attack to contact the Ipoh police at 05-2451500.
