The Melaka government yesterday handed over a RM20,000 donation to the family of the BernamaTV cameraman who was shot dead while covering a humanitarian aid mission in Somalia last Friday.

Melaka Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam handed a cheque for the amount to a Bernama representative for the family of Noramfaizul Mohd Nor at an event at Seri Negeri, Melaka.

Also present were former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Melaka Financial Officer Naim Abu Bakar.

Noramfaizul, 39, was killed by a stray bullet while travelling in a four-wheel-drive vehicle with other media personnel after covering the humanitarian aid mission organised by the Putera 1Malaysia Club in famine-hit Somalia.
