A witness told a Coroner’s inquest here today?that former Kelantan palace guard Ramli Mohamad had an argument with several?bodyguards hired by former Tengku Temenggong Kelantan, Tengku Muhammad Fakhry?Petra a few days before Ramli was shot on May 1 last year.

Kelantan palace guard L/Cpl Hafizi Azim Anim, 25, said this happened after?the bodyguards did not allow Ramli and the rest of the palace guards to enter?Istana Mahkota on the instructions of Tengku Muhammad Fakhry Petra and his?mother Raja Perempuan, Tengku Anis Tengku Abdul Hamid.

“Ramli ticked them off because of their rude attitude to the palace guards?who consisted of police personnel, but a fistfight did not break out.

“At one point during the argument, Ramli said something like `mu ingat mu?gedebe ke’ (you think you are gangsters is it),” he testified before Coroner?Raja Norshuzianna Shakila Raja Mamat who is being assisted by Deputy Public?Prosecutor Raya Wan Abdul Razak Wan Hussein.

Today was the fourth day of the inquest into the death of Ramli who was shot? by unknown assailants in Palekbang on May 1 and died at the Raja Perempuan?Zainab II Hospital (HRPZII)in Kota Baharu a few days later.

Ramli was riding his motorcycle to his home in Kampung Kok Keli after his?shift at Istana Negeri, Kubang Kerian when the incident happened.

Hafizi Azim also testified that he heard from third parties that an?ambulance driver at the palace had informed them that the bodyguards were?willing to shoot Ramli if provided firearms.

He said the bodyguards were hired when the former Kelantan Sultan, Sultan?Ismail Petra was hospitalised at the Mount Elizabeth in Singapore in April 2009.

“They (bodyguards) took over our duties and never allowed us anywhere near?the former Sultan’s room and this resulted in a few arguments,” he said, adding?that the situation continued until the former Sultan returned to Istana Mahkota,?about a year later.

He said he only came to know about the shooting the next day.

“When I visited him at the hospital, he informed me that he had been shot,?but a short while after he started coughing blood,” he said.

Another colleague of the deceased, Hasbullah@Abdullah Abdul Rahim, 65,?testified that Ramli was a friendly person but did not know if he had any?enemies.

A total of seven witnesses were called to testify in the inquest today?including HRPZII medical officer Dr Rosdi Omar and other colleagues of Ramli.? The hearing continues tomorrow.
