MPWM finalists attend training workshops before they compete in the grand final on Dec 12, 2020.

Miss Plus World Malaysia (MPWM) organisation conducted its first training session for the 26 finalists of Miss Plus World Malaysia 2020 at Sunway Putra Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on September 26, 2020.

The finalists are training for the main event – Miss Plus World Malaysia’s grand finale, which takes place at the grand ballroom of Sunway Putra Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on 12th December, 2020.

MPWM national director Ziinine AS Britshi said the finalists will undergo two months of intensive training to prepare them for the big day.

“The finalists will undergo various programs that encompassed skills growth in preparation for the final such as handling the stage, camera presence, posture, poise, posing, stage presence, ramp walk, Q & A, interview skills, etiquette, connecting with judges and undertaking charity work. The training also provides the soft skills that are needed for any person for survival in the fast-moving world,” he said.

The plus-size contestants will compete at the grand finale in a bid for the crown. Fourteen of the contestants in the 20 to 35 age group will be vying for the Miss Plus World Malaysia 2020 crown, while another twelve contestants aged 36 and over will compete for the Ms Plus Intercontinental Malaysia 2020 title.

“The design of the course has a basic motive to build self-esteem in all MPWM finalists that would also prepare them for all kinds of challenges that would come their way,” Ziinine added.

Among the trainers on the first session were Amanda Jane Russell, Lieutenant Governor Div.1 Kiwanis, who conducted a session on effective public speaking skills; Seeya Elchidana, a plus-size model and Instagram influencer, who offered tips on catwalks for runway and beauty pageant; and Aleza Alymann who gave expert advice about the golden rules on dining etiquette.
