The Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) celebrated its 33rd-anniversary last week with a traditional Malay theatre performance that highlighted the agency’s success story and team spirit.

During the anniversary speech, Wan Kamarul Faisal bin Wan Kamardin, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Planning & Development), urged the LADA family to remain committed and continue to create more success stories to benefit Langkawi’s diverse communities.

Muar Holiday Tours & Express Transport Sdn Bhd, a Johor-based travel agency that organizes MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) groups to Langkawi, recently led a group of 409 people from Eostre, a Malaysia-based distributor of smart healthcare products, on an incentive travel visit to Langkawi.

Langkawi, known for its beautiful beaches and lush forests, is a popular destination for both local and international tourists. The island has been actively promoting itself as a MICE destination, with LADA providing various incentives and facilities to attract more business events.

LADA was established in 1986 as a government agency under the Malaysian Ministry of Finance to develop Langkawi Island, located off the northwest coast of Malaysia. The agency aims to boost the island’s tourism industry, improve infrastructure, and enhance the island’s overall economy.

Since its establishment, LADA has been actively involved in developing Langkawi’s tourism infrastructure, including hotels, resorts, airports, and recreational facilities.

LADA has played a crucial role in the island’s economic development, transforming it from a sleepy backwater into a vibrant tourist destination. Langkawi is now a popular holiday destination that attracts millions of visitors each year from all over the world. LADA has also contributed to the development of the island’s agriculture, aquaculture, and fisheries sectors, which have helped to improve the livelihoods of the local communities.
