The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has unveiled an exciting addition to the virtual tourism landscape with the launch of Singapore Wanderland on the popular gaming platform Roblox.
Following a successful beta version release on May 11, the game has already attracted over two million visits, immersing players in a reimagined Singapore within the metaverse.
Developed in collaboration with gaming specialist Publicis Play and Roblox developer Wonder Works Studio, Singapore Wanderland offers a unique opportunity to experience the city-state virtually through three engaging mini-games based on real-life attractions.
Exploring the virtual attractions of Singapore Wanderland
Singapore Wanderland introduces players to a vibrant virtual world where they can engage in various tasks and adventures while discovering the iconic landmarks of Singapore.
The game features three mini-games, each showcasing a different real-life attraction, providing an immersive and interactive experience. “Garden Galaxis” offers an obstacle course with breathtaking views of Marina Bay Sands and Supertree Grove.
In “Finders’ Isle,” players explore a Clarke Quay-inspired town square, searching for unique items. “Jungle Jiffy” allows players to ride go-karts and race through the Singapore Botanic Gardens and Haw Par Villa.
The game also provides players with the opportunity to customize their avatars using collectables found within the virtual world.
Reaching new audiences and creating virtual opportunities
The Singapore Tourism Board has strategically leveraged the Roblox platform to expand its reach and captivate new audiences through innovative means.
The collaboration with gaming specialist Publicis Play and Roblox developer Wonder Works Studio spanned five months to create this immersive experience.
With a user base of over 60 million daily active users worldwide, Roblox offers a significant platform for the STB to engage with key markets such as India, the United States, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
Additionally, with a considerable portion of Roblox users falling within the under-18 age group, the STB can effectively connect with the family segment, encouraging shared experiences and fostering a love for virtual travel.
The launch of Singapore Wanderland also opens up possibilities for exploring monetization and partnership opportunities within the virtual world, presenting an avenue for local tourism businesses to experiment and engage with new audiences.
The release of Singapore Wanderland on Roblox marks a significant milestone in virtual tourism experiences. The collaboration between the Singapore Tourism Board, Publicis Play, and Wonder Works Studio has resulted in an immersive platform that allows users to explore the wonders of Singapore from the comfort of their homes.
