The Johor Chief Minister, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, has announced that the implementation method for the proposed contraflow route at the Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine Complex (Johor Bahru CIQ) and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) is currently under study.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) and the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) are examining various proposals to determine the best approach for implementation. The focus is on ensuring smooth traffic flow for pedestrians and bus users during peak periods such as school holidays and public holidays.

Johor Chief Minister, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, took to Facebook to provide an update on the proposed contraflow route at Johor Bahru CIQ. He mentioned that the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Immigration Department are currently conducting a thorough study of the proposal before proceeding with its implementation.

Onn Hafiz also highlighted that discussions are underway regarding the proposed contraflow routes for pedestrians and bus users during peak periods. The aim is to address the recent congestion experienced during school holidays and public holidays.

The Chief Minister expressed his hope for close cooperation among relevant agencies to ensure optimal traffic flow in both directions at Johor Bahru CIQ and KSAB while remaining prepared for any unforeseen traffic situations.

The implementation method is being carefully evaluated to minimize disruptions and enhance the overall traffic management system.

He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Federal Government and the Johor government to ensure comprehensive impacts on neighbouring countries. He recently had a meeting with the management of BSI and KSAB to discuss solutions for the traffic congestion issues.

To alleviate the situation, he proposed the establishment of a dedicated contraflow route for pedestrians and public transportation users, particularly during school holidays and long weekends.
