AirAsia has celebrated the inaugural flight from Jakarta, Indonesia, to Kuching, Sarawak, marking a significant milestone in strengthening connectivity between the two cities.
The welcoming party, held at Kuching International Airport, included esteemed guests from government ministries and airline representatives.

AirAsia has further expanded its reach in Sarawak by introducing the Jakarta-Kuching route, its fourth international connection to the state.
This new route complements AirAsia Malaysia’s existing routes from Kuching, Miri, and Sibu to Singapore, which were launched last year.
The inaugural flight, QZ530, arrived ahead of schedule, welcomed by Dato’ Sri Lee Kim Shin, Minister for Transport Sarawak, and other dignitaries.
The introduction of this route strengthens Sarawak’s connectivity with ASEAN countries and promotes cultural exchange and economic growth.

Lee acknowledged the collaborative efforts of AirAsia, the Sarawak Tourism Board, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Indonesia, and the Jakarta Tourism Authority in establishing this route.
He highlighted the importance of promoting Sarawak in strategic markets like Indonesia and emphasized the potential for wider connectivity with other parts of Indonesia, particularly with the upcoming administrative capital in East Kalimantan.
