The Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) project is nearing completion and is expected to commence operations on March 1, 2025, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

With construction progress at 86%, the LRT3 is set to benefit approximately two million residents along the west coast of the Klang Valley, particularly from Petaling Jaya to Klang.

The project, which has a total cost of RM16 billion, will feature 22 sets of three-coach trains with a capacity of 18,630 passengers per hour. It will also include two interchange stations at Bandar Utama and Glenmarie, connecting the Kajang Line MRT and Kelana Jaya Line LRT to the LRT3.

Its completion is expected to benefit 74,000 passengers and 500,000 residents by improving connectivity and reducing traffic congestion in the region. The line will connect Bandar Utama with Johan Setia in Klang, passing through areas such as Damansara Utama, Shah Alam town centre, and Klang town.

With 20 stations, the LRT3 line will be integrated with other public transportation networks, including the MRT Bandar Utama, Kelana Jaya Line, BRT Federal Line, and KTM Komuter Port Klang Line.

The stations will also incorporate sustainable features such as rainwater harvesting technology, noise reduction measures, energy management systems, and natural ventilation.

The project not only improves transportation infrastructure but also stimulates economic growth and creates employment opportunities for approximately 2,000 personnel during the construction phase.

As the completion of the LRT3 project draws near, residents in the Klang Valley can look forward to enhanced connectivity, reduced traffic congestion, and improved accessibility.

The project’s integration with existing transportation networks will provide commuters with seamless travel options, promoting sustainable and efficient mobility in the region.
