At the heart of this remarkable success story lies the exceptional partnership between the UOA Group, responsible for the 60-acre integrated property development project, and The Horizon Bangsar South Joint Management Body (THBS JMB), the governing body entrusted with maintaining order, safety, and harmony within Bangsar South.

This collaboration has not only ushered in prosperity and growth to the bustling property development but, more importantly, it has fortified the safety and security of its residents and visitors through a comprehensive suite of robust initiatives. Together, these two entities have seamlessly worked hand in hand, making Bangsar South not only a vibrant and prosperous community but, most significantly, a much safer place for all who reside and visit.

Central to their success is the Strata Management Act 757, which empowers THBS JMB to establish essential house rules for the proper maintenance, management of buildings, common property, and related matters. This crucial legislation plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, health, and security of everyone within Bangsar South.

Early adoption of safety measures

Bangsar South did not wait for a crisis to strike; instead, it became an early adopter of safety measures. This proactive stance, particularly in organizing Certified AED/CPR and Certified Emergency Rescue Team trainings, proved invaluable when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Safety, health, and security measures were given top priority by THBS JMB, setting the stage for effective response during the pandemic and Movement Control Orders (MCOs) from 2019 to 2021.

To further enhance emergency preparedness, AED stations were strategically installed throughout Bangsar South, allowing the community and trained auxiliary police (Polis Bantuan) and security officers to respond swiftly during life-threatening situations. These measures are not only proactive but also align with the government’s mandate that government buildings and public facilities must have AED facilities by 2025.

UOA Academy: Nurturing a safety-conscious community

UOA Academy’s contribution to fostering a culture of safety within Bangsar South is nothing short of remarkable. The academy which is backed by UOA Group, is an Accredited Training Centre under the Department of Skills Standard (JPK) Malaysia and an Approved Training Provider under the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRDC). It is on a mission to equip organizations with future-proof talents through high-impact development programs and a wide range of consultancy services.

Through their diligent efforts, they have organized a series of AED/CPR courses that have equipped hundreds of community members with the essential skills needed to respond effectively during emergencies. These training programs are not limited to specific settings; they encompass a wide range of scenarios, whether it be responding to incidents in public spaces, workplaces, or within the safety of one’s own home. The academy’s commitment to enhancing the preparedness of the community has set a crucial precedent for proactive safety measures within Bangsar South.

UOA Academy recently conducted AED/CPR classes for the community on October 10th. This event not only showcased Bangsar South’s unwavering dedication to ensuring that its residents and visitors are well-prepared to handle life-threatening situations but also served as a testament to the proactive approach the community has taken in creating a safer environment for everyone.
