JPJ says a TikTok offer of a driving licence without a test is fake and has reported the account to MCMC. See what it said and how to check an offer.

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) says a TikTok advertisement offering a driving licence without a test is fake. It has reported the account to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

JPJ made the statement on 20 October after receiving complaints. It urged the public not to be fooled by such offers.

Here is what JPJ said and why this is not the first warning. We also list how to check an offer before you pay.

What JPJ said about the TikTok advertisement

JPJ said it received complaints about the advertisement, Malay Mail reported. The ad used an account under the name Ahmad Mushidi.

“JPJ wishes to emphasise that the advertisement and the account … are fake,” its statement read. The account belongs to an individual named Ahmad Mushidi.

The department then lodged a report with MCMC for further action. Bernama reported the same details in Malay.

JPJ advised the public not to be easily deceived by licence promotions on unverified ads or accounts. It said this could cause confusion and losses. So the warning covers any unverified account, not only the one it named.

It also reminded people to get information on JPJ services only through the department’s official platforms.

The reports do not say how many people saw the ad. They also give no price for the offer and no count of victims.

In short, JPJ is clear that no one can get a driving licence without a test through such an ad.

This is not the first warning

JPJ has issued similar warnings before. In November 2025, it said TikTok accounts offered free licences without tests, Malay Mail reported.

Those ads used images of senior Transport Ministry officials, including the secretary-general. JPJ said the accounts had no link to the department. It said irresponsible parties used official images to mislead the public.

In February 2026, JPJ’s deputy director-general for planning and operations, Datuk Jazmanie Shafawi, addressed the issue, The Vibes reported.

“There is no such thing as a licence without a test,” he said. “Everyone must follow the procedures that have been set.”

He called the promotions a scam and said JPJ was working with MCMC. At that time, he said no one had come forward to report falling victim.

We found no later figures on victims. So we cannot say whether anyone has lost money to the latest ad.

JPJ says the public should use its official platforms for information. The department’s complaints portal is at jpj.spab.gov.my, based on its 2025 statements. Check any driving licence without a test offer against these channels.

The following advice is general and does not come from JPJ. First, treat any offer that skips the test as a red flag.

Second, do not pay anyone you met through an ad or a social media account. Check with JPJ first.

Third, report the account on the platform and to JPJ. Keep screenshots of the ad and any chats. If you already paid, tell JPJ and the police.
