More than 30,000 women in Selangor, encompassing both working and non-working individuals, have been the recipients of a series of support assistance programs implemented by the state government.
These initiatives, aimed at enhancing women’s well-being, include childcare assistance, educational support, and financial aid.
State Executive Councillor for Women’s Development, Anfaal Saari, revealed that the Asuh Pintar childcare assistance scheme has been pivotal in supporting women.
Under this scheme, eligible individuals receive an annual RM100 subsidy for daycare or childcare centre fees, benefiting 505 recipients. Another program, the Selangor Kindergarten Assistance Scheme (Tunas), offers a direct RM50 subsidy to registered kindergartens, supporting 2,174 individuals since its inception in 2012.
Anfaal highlighted the Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (Bingkas) initiative, providing a monthly RM300 cash grant for two years to 27,000 families with monthly incomes below RM3,000.
In a recent development, the state government launched MamaKerja, an incentive offering RM1,000 to 5,000 working women, strengthening their financial stability.
Anfaal emphasized that these initiatives align with the First Selangor Plan, a five-year development strategy featuring 12 programs aimed at bolstering family well-being.
These programs encompass Anak Istimewa Selangor (AnIS), Didik AnIS, special education, and therapy incentives for special needs children. The state is committed to nurturing policies and strategic programs that enhance women’s development and family welfare.
In her closing remarks, Anfaal expressed her belief in the positive impact of comprehensive and sustainable support systems, asserting that women can significantly contribute to Malaysia’s productivity and economy when empowered through these initiatives.
