Their inventive solution, Compost Manager, revolutionizes composting with an E-Compost system. Focused on meticulous monitoring, the system integrates a user-friendly app named Compost-Mate.
This innovation provides real-time data on crucial composting factors, such as temperature and humidity, ensuring optimal conditions for efficiency.

Compost Manager, born out of the Shell NXplorers programme, represents a leap towards sustainable solutions. The E-Compost system’s ability to monitor compost conditions in real-time sets it apart.
The user-friendly Compost-Mate app simplifies the monitoring process, enabling composting enthusiasts of all levels to engage with the composting journey. The students’ innovation aligns with Shell’s commitment to fostering the next generation of innovators and addressing global challenges through creative problem-solving.

Dedication and ingenuity of Girl Code
The grand champion award is a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of Girl Code. Compost Manager, with its focus on real-world problem-solving, showcases the students’ ability to think beyond conventional boundaries.
The national finals saw participation from six schools, each contributing two finalists from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak. The competition culminated in the outstanding achievement of SMK Pekan Telipok and SM All Saints from Sabah; SMK Bintulu and SMK Lutong from Sarawak; and SMK Bandar Puncak Jalil and SMK Aminuddin Baki from Peninsular Malaysia.
Nichelle Essabelle James from team XO_Leiune received a special prize for the Best Presenter, recognising her eloquence and detailed explanation of her team’s invention.
Shell NXplorers Malaysia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, has made a significant impact on over 1000 secondary school students from 25 schools across Malaysia. The competition has provided students with a hands-on STEM learning experience, emphasizing technology and innovation.
