As the holiday season approaches, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has issued a travel advisory for passengers departing from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The advisory recommends that travellers flying domestically or internationally during the peak travel season and festive period should arrive at least four hours prior to departure.

The advisory emphasises the surge in passenger traffic during the holiday season and the importance of early arrival to ensure a seamless travel experience.

By arriving ahead of time, passengers can efficiently navigate through crucial processes such as check-in, security checks, and boarding, minimising the risk of delays.

KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 anticipate average daily passenger traffic movements of 79,200 and 66,400, respectively, up to the end of the year.

For September, MAHB registered 6.9 million total passenger movements for airports in Malaysia, accounting for 67 per cent of its total movements of 10.3 million passengers.

KLIA Terminal 1 is currently undergoing a crucial baggage handling system upgrade as part of its asset replacement programme aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.

MAHB had announced in May that the much-needed ageing critical asset replacement programme such as KLIA’s Aerotrain system and baggage handling system.

The replacement of these critical assets will be completed within the next two years.
