Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook officiated the opening of CapsuleTransit MAX today, a premium boutique hotel within Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA2). This new addition sets a new benchmark in transit accommodation, offering domestic and international travelers an elevated experience that rivals any 5-star hotel.
Designed to meet the demands of discerning tourists and business travelers, CapsuleTransit MAX—short for Malaysia’s Authentic eXperience—boasts 46 premium beds, a luxurious lounge, a spa, and the first fully-equipped gym within an airport terminal in Malaysia.
During the launch, Loke emphasized the importance of such developments as Malaysia prepares for Visit Malaysia Year 2026. “I commend CapsuleTransit for supporting the collaborative effort between the government and private sector to improve our airport offerings. This new CapsuleTransit MAX is a feature we can proudly showcase to our airport guests,” he stated.
CapsuleTransit MAX not only enhances the transit experience but also celebrates a decade of CapsuleTransit’s journey. The hotel’s founder and CEO, Ryan Loo, expressed pride in the evolution of the brand, which began with a modest 79-bed facility in 2014 and has since expanded to meet growing demand.
Luxury meets local heritage
CapsuleTransit MAX goes beyond providing a place to rest—it offers a luxurious experience infused with Malaysian culture and creativity. Ryan Loo described the hotel as a blend of luxury, heritage, and modernism, with a touch of fun, designed to create an unforgettable stay. “MAX is designed to introduce guests to the vibrant culture of Malaysia and showcase the finest of Malaysian talents,” Loo explained.
The hotel’s space and ambiance were crafted by the international award-winning design firm Blu Water Studio, reflecting Malaysia’s ingenuity. The hotel features digital artwork by renowned local artist Abdul Shakir, adding a layer of authentic Malaysian charm. CapsuleTransit MAX has also collaborated with local brands like Acaya, APOM, Ana Tomy, Pestle and Mortar Clothing (PMC), and Typical Us to incorporate Malaysian craftsmanship into its design and offerings.
The hotel’s unique features include the “runway suite,” offering unparalleled views of the airport runway, and executive rooms equipped with long baths, a rare luxury in airport hotels. Additionally, guests can enjoy the plant-based airport lounge, which offers a variety of hot meals, free-flow light nibbles, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Elevating the transit experience
CapsuleTransit MAX is designed to cater to both leisure and business travelers. The hotel’s fully-equipped gym, the first of its kind in an airport terminal, allows guests to maintain their fitness routines during transit. For those seeking relaxation, the hotel offers steam bath facilities and a spa, providing exclusive wellness options.
The Business Club at CapsuleTransit MAX is another highlight, offering amenities such as meeting rooms, conference spaces, and even an event venue. This makes the hotel an ideal choice for business travelers who need to stay productive during their stopovers.
Loo emphasized that CapsuleTransit MAX is not just a place to rest but a destination that aims to elevate the overall travel experience. “We provide a range of amenities that cater to both leisure and business travelers, ensuring that every guest leaves with a smile,” he said.
In addition to its luxurious accommodations and services, CapsuleTransit MAX offers an exclusive merchandise corner. This space features a curated selection of products showcasing some of Malaysia’s finest creations and brands, allowing travelers to take home a piece of the country’s vibrant artistic heritage.
CapsuleTransit has come a long way since its inception in 2014. With the launch of CapsuleTransit MAX, the company continues its commitment to enhancing Malaysia’s airport accommodations. The opening of this premium boutique hotel at KLIA2 is a significant milestone, as the country gears up for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
Loo concluded the launch by reaffirming CapsuleTransit’s dedication to welcoming travelers from around the world with renowned Malaysian hospitality. He also highlighted the company’s future plans, which include adding approximately 200 more beds in collaboration with Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) to further enhance the accommodation options available for travelers.
