The Budimas Charitable Foundation hosted its 6th annual Night of a Thousand Blessings at the Pullman Hotel KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, uniting over 400 supporters to raise RM400,000 in aid of underprivileged and Orang Asli children. This black-tie fundraising gala, held on a grand scale, saw the presence of esteemed guests, including the foundation’s Chairman, Y.M. Tunku Dato’ Yaacob Khyra, alongside members of the Board of Trustees, business sponsors, and media representatives.
In his heartfelt opening address, Tunku Dato’ Yaacob Khyra emphasized the importance of collective responsibility, stating, “We are gathered here tonight not only to celebrate, but to remind ourselves of the responsibility we bear towards the most vulnerable members of our society. With every ringgit raised, we give hope, stability, and a brighter future to children who deserve the chance to thrive.”
The event featured inspiring performances by the Budimas Orion Home’s Choir, traditional Gendang and dance displays, and vibrant live music, creating an atmosphere that celebrated cultural heritage while advancing the foundation’s cause.
Budimas: A legacy of impactful programs
Since its establishment, The Budimas Charitable Foundation has been dedicated to uplifting the lives of underprivileged children across Malaysia through a variety of transformative initiatives. One of its cornerstone efforts is the Budimas Home Charity Fund (BHCF), which supports more than 50 children’s homes, offering a safe and nurturing environment for over 2,000 children who have been displaced or abandoned.
The Budimas Food Charity Fund (BFCF) addresses food insecurity by providing daily meals to over 5,000 students across 160 schools. This initiative, which ensures that children receive the nutrition they need to thrive, is set to expand its reach to an additional 1,000 children in the coming year. Similarly, the Budimas Education Charity Fund (BECF) focuses on improving educational opportunities by establishing libraries in Orang Asli communities. Since 2015, 12 libraries have been built, providing access to over 6,000 books and digital resources, with plans to double the number of libraries by 2025.
In 2024, the foundation furthered its mission by launching two groundbreaking programs. The Budimas Children Medical Care Fund (BCMCF) partners with medical institutions to provide life-saving surgeries and essential care to children with critical illnesses. Meanwhile, the Budimas Performing Arts Fund (BPAF) encourages self-expression and confidence in children through music, dance, and traditional performances, preserving Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.
Gratitude to committed partners
The success of Night of a Thousand Blessings was made possible through the generous support of sponsors, including Sunway Medical Centre, Farm Fresh Malaysia, and Mydin Mohamed Holdings. “Little or large, any contribution from these committed partners makes a difference for the children,” said a representative of the foundation.
Anne Rajasaikaran, Principal Officer of Budimas, expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thanks to the unwavering support of our donors and partners, we are able to help over 10,000 children each year through our programs. But our mission continues, and every contribution brings us closer to ensuring that no child in Malaysia is left without hope.”
The evening concluded with a silent auction, where attendees bid on unique items to support Budimas’ mission. As the foundation continues to build on its legacy, Ms. Anne Rajasaikaran urged individuals and corporations to join their journey, stating, “Together, we can be the change that transforms lives. This evening marks a celebration of kindness and a dedication to creating a better future for all children.”
