KPKT seeks stakeholder input for Budget 2027 priorities

KPKT gathers 350 stakeholders to shape 2027 Budget proposals focused on affordable housing, sustainable development and public welfare.

The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) gathered about 350 stakeholders from various sectors for its Budget 2027 Engagement Session on Aug 24, seeking views and proposals to shape initiatives that better address the needs of Malaysians.

The session brought together representatives from government agencies, professional bodies, financial institutions, housing developers, the private sector, non-governmental organisations, community associations and higher education institutions.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the engagement provided an important platform for gathering practical proposals that could translate into tangible improvements for the people.

Nga said KPKT, together with local authorities, had completed 15,832 public facility projects, including 217 Taman Madani nationwide.

He said the ministry would continue promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly development while strengthening the circular economy.

Budget guided by MADANI priorities

Nga said the ministry’s Budget 2027 proposals would take into account the three pillars of the MADANI Economy: raising the ceiling of national growth, raising the floor of people’s well-being, and driving governance reform and efficient public service delivery.

He added that KPKT would assess the proposals based on their feasibility, priorities and the government’s current financial capacity.

“All the proposals put forward are important and will be reviewed by the ministry in terms of feasibility, priorities and the government’s current financial capacity,” Nga said.

He said the ministry would subsequently discuss proposed initiatives with the Finance Ministry on Sept 3 for consideration in Budget 2027.

Budget 2027, themed “Malaysia MADANI: Menggapai di Langit, Mengakar di Bumi” (Reaching for the Skies, Rooted in the Earth), is scheduled to be tabled in Parliament on Oct 9, 2026.
