Fresh graduates should be willing to accept job offers which were not necessarily related to their field of study,
said Deputy Information Communication and Culture Minister Maglin Dennis D’Cruz.
He said they should not be too choosy as waiting for jobs that matched their respective courses might take time.
He noted that one of the factors for the influx of foreign workers in the country was due to Malaysians being too selective when it involved employment.
D’Cruz was speaking to the media after launching QC-Tec College’s ninth convocation ceremony yesterday.
Meanwhile, he commended the college’s efforts in providing a learning centre with calibre to produce labour capable of boosting development in the country.
At the convocation, 300 students received diplomas and certificates in their respective fields, including food and beverage management, information and computer systems.
Later, when closing the Tan Sri Somasundram Cup badminton tournament at the Kuala Lumpur Badminton Stadium here, D’Cruz said sports could help produce a generation of youths who were active and visionary.
Some 700 students from schools around the country took part in the tournament organised by the Kuala Lumpur Badminton Veterans Association.
