Pekan police chief Supt Yahaya Othman said the victim, Mohamad Romli Hashim, 62, was found dead at the scene with slash wounds on his body.

“It is believed that the fight broke out when the suspect accused the victim of trespassing and spraying pesticides on his padi field,” he said when contacted today.

He said the body was to Pekan Hospital for post-mortem and police were investigating the motive for the killing.

Yahaya also said the victim’s 64-year-old brother-in-law from Kampung Serun, Nenasi had surrendered himself at Pekan police headquarters soon after the incident and had been remanded to facilitate the investigation under Section 302
of the Penal Code.
