The Los Angeles based metal pioneers, are comprised of lead vocalist and riff master James Hetfield, lead guitarist Kirk Hammet, bassist Robert Trujillo and drummer extraordinaire Lars Ulrich.
The band was formed in 1981, and has since produced 9 studio albums and have sold more than 53 million records in their 3 decade long presence in the mainstream metal scene.
According Nirmala Sukumar, an avid fan of Metallica, was mesmerized by Metallica’s presence on stage.
“The fans went crazy the moment Metallica went on stage, almost everyone was screaming their lungs out,” said Nirmala.
Metallica is considered to  be one of the few bands that managed to successfully transcend their loud and heavy sound to the masses. They are considered to be the most successful metal band in the world.
According to one of the fans Hashizam bin Hasbullah, by the end of the concert, Metallica left thousands of die hard fans including some fans, some who are fit to be called senior citizens euphoric and shouting for encores.
“The fans were yelling more, more, and the band actually came back to the stage (and) played” said a visibly thrilled Hashizam referring to ‘Seek and Destroy’ song from Metallica’s debut album ‘Kill Em All’, which was the encore for the night.
This was Metallica’s first ever concert in Malaysia, the last time Metallica got so close to Malaysia was in 1993 when they played a sold out concert in Singapore.
Yesterday’s Metallica’s historic concert left countless number of hardcore headbanging fans, content and hungry for more exciting metal acts here in Malaysia.
