This recognition marks the third consecutive year that SJMC has received this prestigious accolade, solidifying its position as the leading hospital in the Malaysian private healthcare sector.

Through the adoption of clinical and operational management solutions and the strategic use of digital technology, SJMC has consistently enhanced efficiencies across its workflow, resulting in superior patient care.

Excellence in cancer care at SJMC

SJMC’s Cancer & Radiosurgery Centre, established in 2002, has gained a strong reputation and emerged as a regional leader in cancer care. With a multidisciplinary and integrated approach, the centre provides a comprehensive range of services for both adult and pediatric patients.

SJMC stands out as one of the first hospitals in Malaysia to regularly measure the performance of its cancer care services, achieving results comparable to leading centres in developed countries. The hospital has achieved remarkable success rates, particularly in the treatment of breast cancer and nasopharyngeal carcinoma, with lymphoblastic leukaemia boasting an impressive 80 to 90% success rate in curing patients.

The success of SJMC’s cancer care can be attributed to its highly trained medical teams and state-of-the-art medical technologies. The hospital introduced the advanced Radixact X9 with Synchrony system, a combination of intensity-modulated radiation therapy and image-guided scan, which significantly enhances precision in destroying and reducing cancer tumours.

SJMC has also equipped itself with the world’s first digital PET/CT platform, Discovery MI Gen2, ensuring optimal care from disease detection to treatment planning and assessment in the field of nuclear medicine.

According to Bhaskar Vittal, Industry Principal of Healthcare at Frost & Sullivan, SJMC’s commitment to the community extends beyond patient care. The hospital actively engages in philanthropic efforts such as providing mammography and HPV screening programs to detect potential breast and cervical cancer cases at an early stage.

SJMC’s participation in the Global Surgery Initiative, a unique public-private partnership with the Ministry of Health Malaysia and the Malaysian Society of Anaesthesiologists (MSA), further demonstrates its commitment to ensuring equitable access to safe and affordable surgical and anaesthesia care.

SJMC’s focus on operational efficiency and patient experiences is reflected in its hospital management dashboard and porter management system. Being the first hospital in Malaysia to implement a complete electronic medical record system in 2016 has provided SJMC with a competitive edge.
