Proven success and a growing wave of savings
The Rahmah Sale initiative, a collaborative effort with industry players in the retail sector such as supermarkets and hypermarkets, has proven successful since its launch in January. Nearly two million individuals have benefited from the programme, enjoying significant discounts on a diverse range of goods.
Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister, Senator Fuziah Salleh, revealed that a total of 1,133 sale programmes have been conducted, recording a combined sales value of RM51.2 million. Throughout the campaign period, consumers have accessed discounts of up to 30% on various merchandise.
The initiative has garnered substantial support nationwide, with a total expenditure of RM30 million by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living. As of June, 1.1 million people across the country have enjoyed the benefits of Rahmah Sales.
Deputy Minister Fuziah Salleh underscored that the initiative goes beyond just subsidised prices, highlighting that better discounts are provided through this platform. She stated, “Grade A eggs, for example, are sold for RM13 per tray compared to the market price of RM18, while a chicken is sold for RM6.80 per kilogramme compared to the market price of RM9.40 per kilogramme.”
The Rahmah Sales Programme, initiated by the Unity Government, has garnered enthusiasm and a positive response across the nation. It serves as a preferred avenue for individuals seeking economical options for daily necessities, amplifying their savings and financial well-being.
Due to the overwhelming support and to enhance the initiative, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) announced that the Rahmah sale programme will now be conducted twice a month in 640 constituencies nationwide, starting this month. This expansion demonstrates the enduring commitment to provide accessible essentials to communities across Malaysia.
