The Penang state government has announced the extension of the Home Ownership Campaign (HOC) 3.0 from January 1 to December 31 next year.
This move is part of the state’s broader efforts to encourage Affordable Home (RMM) ownership and aims to fulfil the government’s commitment to providing 220,000 RMM units to Penangites by 2030.
HOC received a good response
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow expressed the significance of the HOC in achieving the state’s housing goals.
He stated, “HOC was implemented two years ago and received a good response. The state government is committed to supporting the Penang 2030 Vision to supply 220,000 affordable homes.”
The HOC offers a 10% discount on RMM units priced at RM300,000 on the island, reducing the cost to RM270,000.
In Seberang Perai, RMM units priced at RM250,000 will be discounted to RM225,000, with a minimum area of 850 square feet.
HOC commitment to affordable home
Chow highlighted the success of the HOC in enabling people to own homes and boosting the real estate industry in Penang.
The state government remains committed to ensuring that relevant parties, including the private sector, contribute to providing adequate, quality, and affordable housing.
He added, “Another achievement of the state government through the Penang Housing Board is the approval of the RMM guidelines outlining policies and standards in the construction of RMM, making them more liveable and harmonious.”
Chow urged government agencies and private entities to consider the RMM guidelines as a reference to address issues and challenges in the Penang housing industry.
The extension of the HOC signifies a continued focus on promoting affordable housing, and with discounts offered on RMM units, more Penangites are expected to fulfil their dream of homeownership.
The ongoing commitment of the state government towards achieving its housing targets reflects the broader vision of creating liveable and harmonious communities in Penang
