Food Bayana: Innovation meets culinary excellence

The launch of Food Bayana in Bayan Lepas marks a groundbreaking moment in Malaysia’s food service industry.

Positioned in the heart of Bayan Lepas, often hailed as the “Silicon Valley of the East,” this modern food and beverage complex stands out not just for its culinary offerings but also for its pioneering use of robotic technology.

The new complex, which adheres to ‘gold’ Green Building Index (GBI) standards, reflects the area’s prestigious status and is poised to rejuvenate the industrial zone.

A new era of food service at Food Bayana

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow hailed Food Bayana as a fitting addition to Bayan Lepas.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony held earlier today, Chow noted that the innovative complex breathes new life into the Bayan Lepas Industrial Zone.

The implementation of robotics in food delivery and service is a testament to the area’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological innovation.

Chow emphasised the significance of this project, stating, “The existing food and beverage facilities in the industrial zone were limited and did not reflect the area’s prestigious status.

Food Bayana changes that, setting a new standard for what can be achieved in food service.”

The complex’s design, coupled with cutting-edge robotic technology, heralds a new chapter for the food industry in this industrial hub.

Collaborative success and future prospects

The success of Food Bayana is largely attributed to the collaboration between the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) and Pentamaster Corp. Bhd., with Chow expressing his gratitude for their efforts.

He shared, “After PDC opened the proposal for the development of this site, Pentamaster responded and developed the site we see today.

The use of robotic technology in food service is truly groundbreaking.”

The presence of key figures such as Seri Delima State Assemblyman, Connie Tan Hooi Peng; PDC Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Aziz Bakar; Invest Penang Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Loo Lee Lian; and Pentamaster Corp. Bhd. Chairman, Dato’ Chuah Choon Bin at the event highlighted the importance of this initiative.

Chow expressed optimism that the concept of Food Bayana could be replicated in other areas, noting that companies from the Klang Valley and Singapore have already shown interest in developing similar projects.

Furthermore, Chow revealed that PDC and Pentamaster are currently working on two additional projects in the vicinity: Bayana Hub and Bayana Parc.

These developments are expected to further enhance the area’s appeal and solidify its status as a leading industrial and technological hub.

Food Bayana is not just a food complex; it is a symbol of innovation and collaboration. As the first of its kind in Malaysia, it sets a new benchmark for food service, blending advanced technology with sustainable practices.

As Chow aptly put it, “Congratulations and well done to PDC and Pentamaster for their collaboration in producing this high-quality and innovative project.”
