Village Grocer’s opening day offers

Village Grocer says its opening day special starts at 11.18am on Sunday. All offers are while stocks last, on a first come, first served basis, its official post says.

First, spend RM118 or more on a single receipt to get a free foldable shopping bag. The bag is limited to 1,000 units, and each customer can redeem one.

The bag is a mystery design with Malaysian food illustrations. It is listed as a Bites Member exclusive. So sign up free on the Bites App first.

Next, spend RM100 or more on one receipt for a free angpao pack. It holds four discount vouchers, and there are 1,000 packs.

Also, shoppers who spend RM300 or more get a fruit and vegetable gift bag. Only 50 can be redeemed each day.

Finally, the store also lists a buy-one-get-one-free “Bumper Bonanza” on opening day. The post gives no details on which items are included.

Free chendul from Penang Chendul

Penang Chendul has its own 118 Mall opening day offer. The first 118 customers get one free Signature Chendul, with no minimum spend, a promotion listing says.

The offer starts at 11.18am on Sunday. That matches the time Village Grocer uses.

Chendul is a cold dessert. It has green jelly, coconut milk and palm sugar over shaved ice.

Also, the number 118 runs through the deals. It is in the spend limit, the start time and the customer cap.

Then comes opening week. From 1 to 7 November, spend RM30 or more on one receipt to get a free Signature Chendul.

However, only the first 118 redemptions each day qualify. There is one redemption per receipt. The listing says other terms and conditions may apply.

We have not seen the brand’s own post. So check it before you queue.

What to know before you go

The Merdeka 118 precinct’s own post confirms the mall opens on 1 November. However, hours are not confirmed. The mall has not published its opening day times in the sources we checked.

Next, expect crowds. One visitor guide says parking will be hard in the first weeks. The MRT is the easier route.

Merdeka station on the Line has an escalator to the mall’s lower ground floor, as our earlier story noted.

Meanwhile, Village Grocer will run more offers after Sunday. On 5 November, spend RM100 for a 320g jar of Chiaverini jam, limited to 100 a day.

Then on 6 November, spend RM350 on fresh seafood to get a whole Norwegian salmon of 3 to 4 kg. Only 20 are available each day.

On 12 November, spend RM100 for a Mama Vege tomyam vermicelli pack, limited to 200 a day. On 19 November, a HY Grain Crispy Roll goes on the same terms.

Also, the observation deck at Merdeka 118 is a separate attraction. It has no public opening date yet.

In short, go early for the 118 Mall opening day offers, bring your receipts and read the terms first.
