Opus Bay Batam, the island’s first integrated resort, will start opening in December 2026. The first phase includes its own ferry terminal and a 493-room hotel tower. Villas, shops and a sports park follow in early 2027. Overall, it is a large project for a short ferry ride.
The resort sits on Batam’s west coast, with a ferry link of about 45 minutes from Singapore. However, no exact December date has been announced. Prices have not been published either.
Here is what opens first, what comes later and how to reach it.
Opus Bay Batam: what opens first

The first phase includes Marina Bay Ferry Cove, the resort’s own ferry terminal. In addition, it includes Balmoral Tower, part of the Residence on Opus Bay. Both are due from December.
Balmoral Tower has 35 storeys and 493 rooms, according to trade reports. Its rooms come in nine categories, from studios to two-bedroom suites.
Reports describe it as the largest hotel on Batam. Therefore, it will be a major addition to the island’s hotel stock.
The ferry terminal is about a three-minute walk from the tower. As a result, guests can step off the boat and walk to the hotel.
Villas, shops and sports in 2027

In early 2027, Cluny Resorts will add 57 villas in seven categories. Sizes range from 169 sq m one-bedroom villas to a 548 sq m three-bedroom Grand Villa. Most villas have private pools. Meanwhile, a buggy service will link guests to the promenade and ferry terminal.
The Bay Boulevard Marina Promenade covers about 10,000 sq m. Plans list close to 80 shops and restaurants. There will also be a food hall with local and seafood dishes. A supermarket is planned too, according to a hotel trade report.
Likewise, there is a public Sports Park with three padel courts and four pickleball courts. One padel court meets competition standard. In addition, the park will have seating, showers and a food kiosk.
The project is billed as a “city within a city”. Moreover, according to one report, Singapore-based Tuan Sing Holdings is the developer, and the site covers 125 hectares.
Getting there from Singapore and Johor

Opus Bay Batam has its own terminal. Instead of using Batam’s main ferry ports, guests land at the resort. One report says the Singapore sailing leaves from the Singapore Cruise Centre. The trip takes about 45 minutes. Hang Nadim International Airport is also about 45 minutes away.
Several sights are close by. Saung Budaya Batam, Puncak Beliung and Batam Hills Golf Resort are about 10 minutes away. By contrast, Barelang Bridge is 25 to 30 minutes away.
The main malls are 30 to 35 minutes away, including Grand Batam Mall and Batam City Square.
Still, Batam is getting easier to reach for Malaysians. A new Puteri Harbour to Batam ferry opened on 1 November, and Batik Air now flies Batam to Penang.
In short, Opus Bay Batam offers a short break with no long transfers. Travellers should wait for the opening date and prices before they plan a stay. One report lists the resort’s website as opus-bay.com for updates and sales enquiries.
