Despite the delay caused by the Covid-19 restrictions, the long-awaited declaration has finally come to fruition, and worshippers from all walks of life are eagerly looking forward to this grand celebration.

Preparations for the Feast of St Anne have been in full swing since July 1, as different ministries within the church have come together to ensure that every detail is meticulously planned. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Salt of the Earth, Light of the World,” which highlights the important role of Christians in spreading love, compassion, and hope to others.

Volunteers, numbering around 1,560, have generously offered their assistance in various ministries, including mass liturgy, firefighting, medical support, multimedia, and providing meals for pilgrims. Their dedication and commitment are crucial in creating a vibrant and memorable experience for all visitors.

To kickstart the preparations, a gotong-royong (community work) was held at the Minor Basilica on July 8. This communal effort welcomes everyone to participate and contribute their time and energy to getting the church grounds ready for the feast day.

As part of the Feast of St Anne, free meals will be served at the Dewan St Anne throughout the 10-day celebration. These meals are generously donated by the community, reflecting the spirit of generosity and communal support that surrounds this joyous occasion.

The organizers are committed to providing three meals a day whenever food is available, ensuring that visitors and pilgrims are well taken care of during their time at the feast.

The procession will traverse several streets, including Jalan Kulim, Jalan Kampung Baru, Jalan Berjaya, and Jalan Maju, before returning to Jalan Kulim and culminating at the Church of St Anne. This magnificent spectacle is a sight to behold as devotees, bearing candles and praying fervently, honour St Anne and express their faith and gratitude.
