Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) student Lau Zhi Xuan has made her mark by winning the 2024 APU ACCA Accelerate Book Prize.

The Bachelor of Accounting and Finance student passed the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Strategic Business Reporting (SBR) exam on her first attempt—a milestone reflecting APU’s commitment to academic and professional excellence.

“Passing the SBR module is no small feat,” said Associate Professor Dr Chong Lee Lee, Head of APU’s School of Accounting and Finance.

The APU ACCA Accelerate Scheme played a vital role in Lau’s achievement.

This unique programme allows Bachelor of Accounting and Finance students to fast-track their ACCA qualification by sitting for Strategic Professional Level exams during their undergraduate studies.

Through the scheme, Lau gained exemptions for nine fundamental-level exams, focusing solely on the Strategic Professional Level.

Experienced faculty members, including Bryan Chan Loke Teng and Phuah Eng Sze, guided her through specialised tuition classes tailored for the ACCA SBR module.

“The support from my mentors was incredible,” Lau shared.

Held on 19 December 2024, the prize-giving ceremony honoured Lau’s accomplishments.

Ryan Ng, ACCA Maritime Southeast Asia’s Business Relationship Manager, presented the award.
