IJN University College is strengthening its position as a leading healthcare education institution following its transition from IJN College on May 30, 2025, with a renewed focus on research, innovation and compassionate care.
The transformation was highlighted during the institution’s Exclusive Open Day held from May 18 to 24, 2026, where prospective students, parents and visitors were given insights into academic programmes, research initiatives and student life at the campus.
Dr. Hariyati Shahrima Abdul Majid, Director of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies at IJNUC, described the transition to a University College as more than a change in name.

“It is about creating new knowledge for the community,” she said, adding that the institution is prioritising state-of-the-art research in allied health sciences, nursing and managerial sciences to meet the country’s evolving healthcare demands.
As a self-described “boutique university”, IJNUC emphasises a student-centred learning environment aimed at producing healthcare professionals equipped with both technical expertise and empathy.
Building future healthcare leaders
During the Open Day, visitors participated in guided campus tours and attended previews of a student symposium featuring research addressing global and social healthcare challenges.
The institution also highlighted its network of more than 100 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with industry partners, which provide students with exposure beyond classroom learning through placements and collaborations within the healthcare sector.

Among the latest initiatives introduced is a volunteer training programme under Rakan IJN, where students will provide psychosocial support to heart patients and their families.
The Open Day also showcased programmes under the Faculties of Nursing, Allied Health Sciences and Managerial Sciences, covering disciplines such as physiotherapy, pharmacy, cardiovascular technology, occupational safety and health, business administration and human resource management.
The atmosphere at the IJN lobby reflected active engagement between faculty members, students and visitors, as attendees explored academic pathways and discussed the future of healthcare education in Malaysia.
