Japan Expo Malaysia (JEMY) 2026 is set to return for its seventh edition from 24 to 26 July at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), with organisers expecting 50,000 visitors to experience Japan’s culture, tourism, entertainment, business opportunities and innovations under one roof.
Recognised as one of the official events under the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 calendar, the three-day expo will offer free admission to the public, strengthening its role as a major platform for cultural exchange and tourism collaboration between Malaysia and Japan.
Organised by Siam Connection Sdn Bhd and G-Yu Creative Co. Ltd, JEMY 2026 is supported by key Japanese and Malaysian organisations, including the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), The Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur, Tourism Malaysia, and the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB).

Now regarded as Malaysia’s largest all-Japan event, the expo will feature more than 50 exhibitors showcasing Japanese cuisine, travel destinations, education opportunities, lifestyle products, anime, cosplay, technology, arts and cultural experiences.
Beyond cultural showcases, the event will continue to serve as a business networking platform, allowing Japanese and Malaysian companies to introduce products, explore partnerships and expand their presence in new markets.
“We are excited to welcome everyone back to Japan Expo Malaysia 2026,” said Wong Wai Jo, Managing Director of Siam Connection Sdn Bhd.
“This year’s event is designed to bring people closer to Japan through culture, entertainment, tourism and business. With free admission this year as compared to last year and a stronger curated programme, we hope more Malaysians will visit the expo to discover the many facets of Japan.”
Star performances, cultural showcases drive three-day expo
A key highlight of JEMY 2026 will be the opening ceremony performance celebrating the long-standing friendship between Malaysia and Japan. Malaysian singer-songwriter and entertainer MimiFly will share the stage with renowned Japanese performer Naomichi Hanazono, while traditional Japanese culture will be represented through Awa Odori dance performances from Tokushima Prefecture.

Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia H.E. SHIKATA Noriyuki said the expo reflects the importance of people-to-people connections in strengthening bilateral relations.
“Japan Expo Malaysia reminds us that the strongest friendships between nations are built through people. Every conversation, cultural experience and new discovery brings Japan and Malaysia closer together,” he said.
The entertainment programme will feature more than 20 Japanese and Malaysian artists throughout the three-day event, covering traditional performances, instrumental showcases, contemporary J-Pop and idol performances.
Among the featured acts are Banzai Japan, Kotomen, Nakano Himawari, Rina Hime and KLP48. Two special ticketed concerts will headline the programme, with Japanese alternative band Atarayo performing on 24 July, followed by internationally acclaimed idol group AKB48 on 25 July.
Concert tickets start from RM180 and are available through Etix Malaysia, while other stage performances will remain free for visitors with advance online registration.

The expo will also celebrate individuals and organisations contributing to Japan-Malaysia relations through the Japan Expo Malaysia Awards 2026, which will recognise nine recipients from various fields.
Adding to the excitement, the event will host a Cosplay Competition featuring a total prize pool of RM10,000, attracting fans of anime, manga, video games and Japanese pop culture from across Malaysia.
JEMY 2026 will be held at Hall 6, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, from 24 to 26 July 2026. Admission is free, with visitors able to register online through the official Japan Expo Malaysia platforms.
