The George Penang by The Crest Collection, situated in George Town, has been a significant contributor to the state’s tourism sector since its inception, as highlighted by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow. He attributed the hotel’s success to the dedicated team at The Ascott Limited, who managed the property.
Chow praised the commitment of Venice Property chairman Alan Khor and congratulated everyone involved in this achievement. He mentioned that The George Penang reflects the spirit of George Town while enhancing the state’s tourism outlook.
As someone who was a state executive councillor during the hotel’s conceptualization, Chow revealed that The George Penang holds a special place in his heart. He also acknowledged Penang’s remarkable transformation from a traditional seaport economy to becoming known as the ‘Silicon Valley of the East.’ Moreover, he emphasized Penang’s international recognition as a cultural heritage tourism destination.
The launch event witnessed the presence of dignitaries, including state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai, Alan Khor, and Ascott International Malaysia general manager Shafar Jamaludin.
